For the first time ‘vote from home’ facility starts for 80 + aged and physically challenged voters of Madhya Pradesh

For the first time ‘vote from home’ facility is being provided for the elderly voters of Madhya Pradesh aged 80+ or those who are unable to move and will not be able to go to the polling booth on November 17. This facility started from Tuesday in Burhanpur, Bhopal. In Indore, Raisen, Shajapur, a day earlier on November 6, votes were cast at home through this facility.

Amid police security, polling teams are reaching the homes of the elderly and disabled to cast their votes. Videography of the entire process is also being done. Postal ballot papers are being sent from voters.

Total 27089 voters of 80+ age in all 7 Vidhan Sabhas of Bhopal district. There are 15 thousand 747 disabled voters. Deputy District Election Officer Ravi Shankar Rai said, BLO had filled the forms some time ago from such elderly and disabled voters, who cannot go to the polling booth. On this basis, the process of voting for 2510 elderly and disabled voters has been started from today. On November 8 and 9, teams will go door-to-door for voting. Elderly and disabled voters will be able to vote from 9 am to 5 pm. Voting process will be completed on 7th and 8th November in Vidhan Sabha with low voter turnout. Voting process will continue on November 9 in Vidhan Sabha with more voters.

A total of 113 teams have been deployed in Bhopal for the security of elderly and disabled voters. This includes videographers along with security personnel. There are two poll workers in the team. This setup will be prepared at the voter’s home, just like the system of voting at the polling booth. Representatives of political parties will also be present during this time. Congressmen were active during the voting process in Ward-46 of Bhopal. Councilor Yogendra Singh Guddu Chauhan and other Congressmen are present during the entire process.

Shantibai, who lives in area number 5 of Bhopal, voted at home. He said that he is quite happy after casting his vote.

In Burhanpur, 65 teams have been formed for elderly and disabled voters above 80 years of age. District Election Officer and Collector Bhavya Mittal has formed 32 joint forces for Burhanpur Assembly and 33 for Nepanagar Assembly. The polling team reached village Ambada at 10 am on Monday morning.
