Every minute in 5 years to be utilised for development works: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that he would devote every minute of his five-year term to development works by changing definition of politics. Shri Chouhan was addressing an “Aao Banayen Apna Madhya Pradesh” convention at Shajapur today. He said that real ruler in democracy is not Chief Minister, but people.

Shri Chouhan said that development schemes will be chalked out with common people’s participation and not behind the closed doors. He said that food processing units will be set up in Shajapur district to make agriculture profitable, specially a processing unit for orange at Polai Kalan. The Chief Minister said that efforts will be ensured to increase income of people who do petty works apart from farming to eke out their livelihood. Now rice along with wheat is also being provided to the poor at the rate of Re. 1 per kg. He underlined state government’s commitment to meet people’s basic needs including food, clothes, house etc.

The Chief Minister said that development schemes for every section of society will be chalked out to make Madhya Pradesh a pioneer state. The state government has given 50 percent reservation to women in local bodies. Women are also participating in large number in government services. He alone cannot develop Madhya Pradesh but everyone will have to come forward for this. If doctors treat honestly, advocates discharge their duties well and teachers teach regularly in schools, only then Madhya Pradesh can be re-built. He urged people to plant saplings on every auspicious occasion. Things will improve only when everyone plants a sapling, conserves rainwater, every child goes to school and communities de-addict villages.

Shri Chouhan announced to give Rs. 5 lakh for development to every Gram Panchayat elected unopposed. The Chief Minister began the convention with worship of girls. Shri Chouhan inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various construction works in the district costing Rs. 11 crore 37 lakh. An exhibition focusing on development works was also put up at the convention site.

In-charge of the district and School Education Minister Shri Paras Jain said that Narmada-Kshipra Link Project launched to save Malwa region from becoming a desert is nearing completion. He said the the gift of Re. 1 per kg wheat and rice will be given to 5.50 crore people of the state from March 1.

Collector Shri Pramod Gupta informed about Shajapur district’s achievements. He informed that Public Works Department has constructed 850 km long roads in the district during the last 10 years. Similarly, 177 km long roads have been constructed in the district under Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Sampark Yojana. Number of transformers in the districts has been increased from 5261 in year 2003 to 7772 in year 2013.
