Encroachments were not removed from the green belt in 6 months, neither dairies nor saw machines were shifted :NGT.

In the last six months, campaigns were started from making the capital a clean city to making it cattle free and against encroachment. Some of these actions were started after the instructions of NGT, but were put on hold after a day or two.

The biggest problem of the city was that the saw machines at timber merchants had to be shifted out of the city in three months, but even after four months nothing happened. The orders remained limited to giving notice only to dairy displacement and builders. Now preparations have been started to make the city a solar capital in two months. Similarly, in the last six months, some big actions were started with full force, but no major change was seen.

Action against encroachment in the green belt started from November 25. NGT had given its instructions in the third week of November. After that, the action against about 700 encroachments done by cutting greenery from the central verge of the city to the road side, lasted only for 4 days and 200 encroachments were removed.

Kaliyasot River – Following the instructions of NGT, 33 meters of Kaliyasot River. Issued 700 notices regarding construction of the area. The action started from December 19 but people brought a stay.

Notice to builders – 218 firms have not deposited RERA amount of about Rs 22 crore for two years. Notice was sent to everyone from 28th December and 7 days’ time was given but nothing happened.

Milk Dairy Displacement – The Municipal Corporation had given notice to milk dairy operators to displace the animals outside the corporation limits by January 15. Otherwise there was talk of strict action. This also went on the back burner.

On September 8, 45 acres of land on Airport Road was handed over to the Micro, Small and Medium Industries Department for shifting the saw machines. Even after four months not a single saw machine was shifted.
