Eight Bonded Labourers Freed in Morena

As many as eight bonded labourers, seven of them women, all belonging to Chhattisgarh, have been freed during a police raid in Morena, said media reports.

“On a tip-off, cops raided a brick kiln in civil lines locality of Morena town late Tuesday and freed eight labourers. They were held hostage at the site for over a month,” a police official was quoted as saying.

A case has been registered against the owner of the brick kiln, Ramlakhan, and his associate Visheshwar, reports said.

Both of them are on run and a hunt has been launched for them, said reports.
