CM surveys flood-affected villages on Narmada banks by motorboat

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan surveyed flood-affected villages Chhitgaon Kachhi, Neelkanth, Shahganj etc. on Narmada banks in Nasrullaganj area today by motorboat and boosted morale of affected families.

Shri Chouhan said that the State Government stands by flood-affected people. Assistance will be provided to every affected family. He directed the district administration to ensure entire arrangements for food, drinking water and medicines for flood-affected people until they return to their houses. Shri Chouhan said that as per amended provisions of RBC, Rs. 70 thousand compensation each should be provided to the people whose kuchcha houses have been washed away to help them re-construct them. Rs. 5 thousand each should be provided against loss of domestic goods like utensils etc. He directed to provide food grains also to the affected families.
Shri Chouhan directed district administration that assessment of loss to crops, livestock and other losses should be undertaken on a war-footing as soon as flood water recedes completely. Relief should be provided at the earliest. Farmers should also be provided crop insurance benefit.
It is noteworthy that Chhitgaon Kachhi and Neelkanth villages have been flooded. The district management ensured timely shifting of people from there to safer places and arranged temporary shelter for them. As many as 155 families from both the villages have been brought to temporary camps at Nasrullaganj college and Gillor. At Shahganj Shri Chouhan visited Kevat Mohallam Purani Basi, Jagdish Mandir, Brahman Mohalla and other areas and took stock of flood situation. He met affected people at relief camp at girls higher secondary school and informed about immediate and long-term assistance.
Shri Chouhan sailed over 30 kms by motorboat and took stock of damaged caused in nearby villages. Secretary to CM Shri S.K. Mishra, Collector Shri Kavindra Kiyawat and SP Dr. Raman Singh accompanied the Chief Minister.
