CM meets Union Urban Development Minister Shri Venkaiah Naidu

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Union Urban Development Minister Shri Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi today and urged for early sanction to pending schemes of Urban Development and Environment Department. The Chief Minister held detailed discussions on Centrally-sponsored schemes like Smart Cities, Amrut, Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana (Sabke Liye Aawas 2022), JNNURM projects, Urban Swachchh Bharat Mission and metro projects.

Shri Chouhan urged to include 7 cities of Madhya Pradesh (Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Sagar and Satna in 20 cities to be selected in the country by the Central government for the first phase. He informed that proposals have been chalked out as per prescribed norms and with consent of people and sent to Central government within time-limit. Shri Chouhan urged for Rs. 8,569 crore for Amrut’s integrated action plan for next 5 years. Annual action plans have been prepared for selected 32 cities. Shri Chouhan informed that Rs. 11.13 crore of first year of action plan is still outstanding and urged for early release of this amount. He also urged for fund allocation for Dabra and Omkareshwar towns selected in the scheme.

Shri Chouhan expressed regret over non-sanction of plan for Jabalpur city under Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana and urged to include Jabalpur. He also urged for early release of Rs. 117.63 crore by sanctioning 19 thousand 373 houses in 16 cities of the state under the project.

Shri Chouhan urged for early release of total Rs. 61.02 crore including Rs. 51.93 crore for Bhopal’s water supply distribution under JNNURM project, Rs. 0.84 crore for lake front development, Rs. 6.20 crore for supplementary DPR of 2 BRTS and Rs. 2.05 crore for Kamla Park stay bridge. He also urged for early release of Rs. 115.07 crore for urban reforms under JNNURM so that project can be completed.

Shri Chouhan urged to release Rs. 100 crore as per provisions for year 2015-16 to ensure complete success of Swachchh Bharat Mission. Shri Chouhan informed that the state government had received grant of Rs. 86.43 crore under Swachchh Bharat Mission, which has been completely utilized. State government has sanctioned over 3 lakh 88 thousand toilets in urban areas. Of these, over one lakh 24 thousand toilets have been constructed. Shri Chouhan informed that the state has been divided into 26 regional units for solid waste management in all 378 urban bodies in the state and work is being done under PPP mode. Shri Chouhan said that process to prepare DPRs for Indore and Bhopal’s metro project are in final stage. Shri Chouhan informed that in-principal consent was given by JICA for Bhopal and Indore’s proposed projects during his Japan visit. Shri Chouhan informed that proposal regarding Financial Works will be sent to Finance Ministry only after approval of Urban Development Ministry. He urged to send this proposal to Finance Ministry.
