CM meets Prime Minister, demands 525 crore for flood relief

Bhopal : In a bid to provide immidiate relief to the flood affected people of state, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on saturday met Prime minister Manmohan singh and requested him for Rs. 525 crore asistance.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh gave a patient hearing to the Chief Minister and assured of an early and all possible help in this regard.

Shri Chouhan said that due to heavy rainfall during the last week of July and the first week of August in the State causing loss of lives, damage to crops, infrastructure & household properties. Soyabeen has suffered a major damage due to incessant rains and submerge, he added.

Shri Chouhan said that as per the preliminary assessment of floods major districts like Bhopal, Hoshangabad, Harda, Raisen, Vidisha, Sehore, Ujjain, Dewas, Khandwa, Khargone, Dhar, are severely affected resulting into the loss of human lives, damage of crops, road and property etc.

Shri Chouhan also drew prime minister’s attention on the recent increase in the price of fertilizer, specially DAP, Potash etc. and request to him to roll back the increase. He also asked for amending the food security act which is not at all practical.

Shri Chouhan also pointed out that the High Court decision on banning tourism activities in National Park and reserve forest areas will affect the livelihood of thousands of persons living in the forest areas. Shri Chouhan urged the Prime Minister to look into the matter.
