CM extends support to tribals Jan-Satyagrah Movement

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has extended support to Jan-Satyagrah being made for providing land ownership rights to tribals and ensuring enactment of a land reform Act to safeguard their larger interests. Shri Chouhan will visit Agra on October 10 to extend support to agitationists.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that Forest Rights Act 1980 should be reviewed. Due to this Act, tribal communities have lost rights on their own land. He said that the State Government will extend utmost cooperation to the measures to be initiated for improving the lot of the poor and tribals by the Union Government. At the same time, it will also oppose any move aiming to disturb triabals’ life.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that tribals also have right to live. The so-called civilized society has created their own separate world while tribals have been pushed back to forests. Madhya Pradesh government is sensitive towards tribals’ rights. He said that the State Government has handed over land rights documents to one lakh 60 thousand tribals. Support prices for procurement of five forest produces have also been declared to ensure that tribals get reasonable price for their produce. Steps will be initiated to provide residential patta to every tribal.
