CM bestowed three awards to Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Information about three national awards bestowed on Madhya Pradesh for information technology and agriculture sectors was given at the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, here today. The cabinet lauded this achievement with clapping. Madhya Pradesh has been honoured with Gold Award and State of the Year for excellent work in e-payment sector. Similarly, the state has been bestowed with Agriculture Leadership Award 2012.
Gold Award was given away to Madhya Pradesh at a function of SKOCH Development Foundation by Union Minister Shri Salman Khurshid. State of the Year Award was also given to Madhya Pradesh by including other IT projects with e-payment system. This award is given to a state for achieving best success among all the states and institutions in IT sector. It is noteworthy that now about 87 percent payments are being made through e-payment system in Madhya Pradesh. E-payment is being made to about five lakh employees, five lakh vendors and pensioners in the state. Madhya Pradesh is the first state to make e-payment to vendors.
Agriculture Leadership Award 2012 has been bestowed on Madhya Pradesh for best performance in agriculture sector by Agriculture Today magazine. The award has given to Agriculture Minister Dr. Ramkrishna Kusmaria by Union Minister of State Shri Harish Rawat in New Delhi recently.
Madhya Pradesh was selected for Agriculture Development Award for making forceful initiative for policymaking in agriculture sector, crop cycle change under National Horticulture Mission, production of hybrid seeds, organic farming and achievement of highest agriculture growth rate in the country. Worthwhile progress has been made in agriculture sector in the state. Separate Agriculture Cabinet has been constituted to take decisions on agriculture-related matters. Cooperative banks are extending loans to farmers at zero percent interest rate.
