Cashless Society is Must for Country’s Speedy Development
Bhopal. Minister for Finance Shri Jayant Malaiya said that cashless society is must for country’s speedy development. He termed this arrangement as a second struggle for country’s freedom. He was addressing the dedication programme of first digital village at Badhjhiri of Bhopal district today. Badjhiri is the first village of the state which has been made digital with the cooperation of Bank of Baroda. MLA Shri Rameshwar Sharma was present on the occasion.
Shri Malaiya said that the people of Badhjhiri will be benefited by digital village not only in banking sectors but this will help them in agriculture activities also. He further mentioned that the decision of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to ban big currency notes has eliminated black money from the economy. People will face difficulties for a short time but there will be no lack of funds for welfare schemes in future. Discussing about the financial status of the state, Shri Malaiya said that there is no paucity of funds for roads, electricity and water arrangements. He mentioned that interest free education loan will be provided to the children to pursue studies at premium educational institutions. For this, a fund of Rs. 1000 crore has been created.
Finance Minister Shri Malaiya presented smart phones to the villagers and computer to the Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat. MLA Shri Shrama said that Bank of Baroda has initiated an important step by making Badjhiri a digital village. This will impact nearby villages. He told the bank officials to develop a beautiful park at Badjhiri under the corporate social responsibility to inspire other villages.
Finance Minister Bought Rice through P.O.S. Machine
After the announcement of digital village, Shri Malaiya purchased rice from the grocery shop swiping card at the point of sale machine. General Manager Bank of Baroda Shri Rajendra Kumar informed that decision to make Badjhiri a digital village was taken in the month of October. Today the village is completely transformed into a digital and cashless village. He further informed that the selected villages in Indore and Jabalpur region are being made cashless and digital.
Works Undertaken at Digital Village
It may be highlighted that bank accounts of 2000 villagers have been opened and debit cards have been issued. Also P.O.S. machines have been installed in all the shops and business establishments. Moreover, express lobby has been established in the village containing A.T.M. machine, pass book printer and cash deposit machine. Internet and wi-fi facility has been provided and customer service center has been established. Also bank mobile App facility has been provided to the villagers. Furthermore, loan up to Rs. 10 thousand is being provided to the farmers to purchase smart phones. Beside all this special arrangement has been made at choupals to provide computer literacy to the villagers.
Deputy General Manager Shri V.K. Shukla, Shri J.K. Mathur, Local Representatives were present in the programme. Minister Shri Malaiya visited government middle school of Badjhiri and gifted three computers to the school.
