BJP believes in work & not slogans, says CM Shivraj

BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday accused the Congress of relying on slogans rather than development work for the progress of people. Addressing a public meet at Khaniyadhana in Shivpuri district during his Jan Ashirwad Yatra, the chief minister said, “Indira Gandhi gave the slogan ‘Garibi Hatao’, but only indulged in exploiting the poor.”

Chouhan alleged that Pichhore assembly segment is backward because the MLA, who is representing the constituency for the last 14 years, has not done anything for development of the area. He said if the BJP won the election from the constituency, the MLA would have been personally accountable for its development.

On Sunday, the chief minister’s ‘Jan Ashirwad’ Yatra reached Shivpuri — which is part of state Congress campaign committee chairman Jyotiraditya Scindia’s constituency. Chouhan obliquely held Scindia responsible for backwardness of the area.

He said it has been the workplace of great men like Nandeshwar Jinalay and Chandrashekhar Azad and sought blessings of people to form the government again in MP. He said that Indira Gandhi might not have been serious about her slogan of ‘Garibi Hatao’, but the BJP is committed to work for poverty eradication by raising the income of the poor. Chouhan said on the 75 th anniversary of Independence in 2022, nobody in Madhya Pradesh would be homeless.
Referring to Sambal Yojana of his government, he said so far 2.22 crore people have registered themselves under the scheme and its benefits are being extended to workers of the unorganized sectors, marginal farmers and businessmen without any discrimination.

During chief minister’s public meeting, scion of Khaniyadhana royal family, Rishabh Raja along with his supporters joined the BJP party. The chief minister, later, addressed a public meeting at Chanderi. Enthused by the crowd during his public meeting, Chouhan said that the festive atmosphere in the town during his yatra itself indicates that people are with him and said they should bless him and his party so that Chanderi’s saree industry could be taken to a new high.

Addressing another public meeting at Sehrai, he said that BJP government at the Centre and the state are committed to make farming a profitable venture. “Prime Minister had fixed the minimum support price of agricultural products at oneand-a half time of production cost and the state government has disbursed Rs 33,000 crore among farmers under various schemes,” he said.
