Bhopal: Sadhvi Pragya Thakur denies charges, files reply

BHOPAL: BJP candidate for Bhopal Lok Sabha and 2008 Malegaon blast accused, Sadhvi Pragya Thakur has received second notice for violation of model code within 24 hours. She was issued notice for her remarks on demolition of Babri mosque late on Saturday. Pragya replied to EC’s notice late on Sunday, denying all the charges leveled against her. Earlier she was served notice from the Election Commission for her remarks on martyred ATS chief Hemant Karkare.

Thakur was served the notice by the district returning officer for her remarks on the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition. She had claimed in an interview to a TV channel that she was among those who had razed the disputed structure, that she considered ‘a blot on the country’. The notice given to her says that she violated following clause, ‘No activity, which may aggravate existing differences or create mutual hatred or cause tension between difference caste, communities, religious,.

She has also denied charges of creating hatred between groups or communities. She has also demanded proof/evidences of the charges leveled against her. Box Former BJP MLA from Surkhi, Parul Sahu expressed her anguish over Thakur’s statement on Facebook. She wrote that BJP top leadership needs to think over statements of Sadhvi ji and Yogi ji. She wrote, “Hindu Muslim Sikh Isai Hum sab hai bhai bhai, Anekta me ekta hee Bharat ki pehchaan hai. Sadhvi ji aur Yogi ji ke bayan BJP ke liye kahin Shrap na ban jaye iski chinta sheersh netratva ko zaroor karni chahiye.”
