Smt. Ranjana Baghel
Women & Child Development Minister Smt. Ranjana Baghel has said that people should consider daughters a boon and not a burden. Society will have to change its mindset with a view to improving gender ratio. Beti Bachao Week launched by the State Government is step forward towards this goal.
Smt. Baghel has appealed to people’s representatives, social workers, voluntary organisations and general people to take active part in the campaign. Future parents should take pledge that they will not resort to female foeticide. Girls have the same right to take birth as boys. Society will have to end discrimination between them.
Smt. Baghel informed that atmosphere in favour of girls has already been created in Madhya Pradesh. With schemes like Ladli Laxmi, Kishori Shakti, free bicycle and uniform, Pratibha Kiran, Gaon Ki Beti etc, daughter will no longer be burden on anyone and become self-reliant.
