Anganwadi workers to taste sweetened flavoured milk before serving it

Bhopal: Anganwadi workers will taste sweetened flavoured milk before serving it to children from July 1. Impact of serving milk on the health of children will be evaluated after 3 months.

In directives sent to all district officers, the state government has said that this process will be adopted to ensure quality of milk at every stage right from collection of powder upto distribution of milk. The process will also involve members of Matru Sahayogini Samiti, Poshan Mitra and parents of children to ensure serving of quality milk to children. Woman panch will monitor quality in every phase of milk supply including collection of milk powder and preparation of milk by solving it in boiled water. Sample containing 50 ML of prepared milk will be maintained in a duly sealed container or glass till closure of Anganwadi.

Assessment of impact on children’s health as a result of consuming milk will be undertaken after 3 months. For this, children will be weighed, checked for improvement in general health and their height will be measured. Attendance of children will be taken into account. For this, a separate register will be maintained at every Anganwadi. Information about milk distribution process and its results will be sent to Directorate of Integrated Child Development.
