Ambit of Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act to be widened

Bhopal: Preparations are underway for completion of installing handpumps in urban areas of Madhya Pradesh within the prescribed time-limit. This will be possible with efforts to widen ambit of Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act. Besides this, works regarding testing water quality in villages and registration of shops and establishments will also be accomplished within prescribed time-limit. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will review progress of this work again in January. Citizens will get benefit of new services in the new year.
Concrete efforts are being made by the Public Service Management Department to widen ambit of Public Service Delivery Guarantee Act. The major services covered under the Act at present include electricity connections, issuance of copies of current khasra-khatauni, nazul NOC, compensation against loss to crops by wild animals, social security and old age pensions, income certificate, domicile certificate, ration card, disability certificate, ration card under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna, sanction of cases under Ladli Laxmi Yojna, inclusion of name in BPL list, maternity assistance scheme etc.
At present, 52 services of 16 departments are covered by the Act. Now, The number of departments will increase to 21 after inclusion of services of five more departments including Finance, Industries, Commercial Taxes, Planning and Housing & Environment. More services of the Labour, Public Health Engineering and Urban Administration & Development Departments will also be brought under purview of the Act.
Concerning departments have given consent for inclusion of their services. Over 1.50 crore applications were received since implementation of the Act most of which have been disposed of. As many as 105 public service centres are operational in the state. Madhya Pradesh has drawn global encomiums for outstanding work in this sector.
