59.71 percent voters cast votes in first phase in MP

Bhopal: Polling percentage in 9 Lok Sabha constituencies of the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh stood at 59.71 percent as per information received till evening. This was 5.35 percent more compared to Lok Sabha elections in year 2009. In today’s polling, 61.80 percent male and 57.43 female voters cast their votes. Maximum 70.93 percent voting was registered in Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency and minimum 48.14 percent in Jabalpur.

Considerable increase in voter turnout has been registered as a result of widespread campaign for increasing poll percentage. In Lok Sabha elections in year 2009, 53.82 percent voting was registered and of the voters 58.95 percent were males and 48.36 percent females. Comparatively, this time 2.85 percent more male and 9.07 percent more female voters have cast their votes in these 9 Lok Sabha constituencies.

Polling percentage today in Satna parliamentary constituency was 56.22, Rewa 52.72, Sidhi 56.45, Shahdol (ST) 60.79, Jabalpur 48.14, Mandla (ST) 65.53, Balaghat 62.52, Chhindwara 70.93 and Hoshangabad 65.24 percent.
