5 Rajya Sabha seats in MP: BJP expected to get two to three seats, one seat for woman

Of the five Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant in Madhya Pradesh, four will go to BJP. Central BJP is going to give two seats out of these four to MP. External candidates can be sent to Rajya Sabha on two seats. However, Madhya Pradesh BJP is trying to get one more seat. If this happens then MP leaders from three seats will go to Rajya Sabha. A woman may get a chance at one seat.

After the meeting of BJP State Election Committee, all the names have been sent to Delhi. Since the elections for 5 Rajya Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh are on 27th February, it is likely that the names of Rajya Sabha members will be released after the meeting of National Office Bearers and National Council.

The meeting of National Officers and Council is on 16, 17 and 18 February in Delhi. On the first day, there will be a national officers’ meeting, in which national officers, state president, state organization general secretary and election in-charge will sit. The council meeting will be held in the next two days. Current Rajya Sabha member L Murugan can again go to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh.

It is noteworthy that according to the votes of MLAs in the Assembly, four out of five seats are going to BJP and one seat to Congress. Party sources say that apart from the five seats falling vacant, if the party contests the Lok Sabha elections for Rajya Sabha MP Sumer Singh Solanki (tenure till June 18, 2026), then a person from the Scheduled Caste category will be sent to the Rajya Sabha in his place.

The National Council meeting has been called on 17-18 February for the preparation of Lok Sabha elections in BJP. This will include cluster in-charge of Lok Sabha elections from Madhya Pradesh, Lok Sabha convenor, extension and Lok Sabha in-charge, BJP district president, state working committee member, Morcha officials and district president. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address it. National officials (of MP), state leaders, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and other prominent people will also participate in this meeting.
