Sedition charges were fabricated by Madhya Pradesh police, says complainant Subhash

Bhopal: According to a report published by a leading media house, original complainant, who earlier was reported to have filed a complaint against 15 Muslim youngsters for raising anti-India slogans and cheering Pakistan’s win over India in Champions Trophy, has claimed that he was not present in the Burhanpur village where the incident happened.

The youngsters were charged with sedition on June 20. The charges, however, were dropped later as police said: “We have dropped the sedition charge under section 124-A of the Indian Penal Code and have invoked IPC section 153 (a) instead against them for disturbing communal harmony.”

Complainant identified as Subhash told the media house that the police may have framed the youngsters themselves. Subhash has claimed he wasn’t even present in the village where the anti-India slogans were allegedly raised.

Subhash told the media house that he had gone to the Shahpura police station along with his father in connection with some other case. “At the police station, he (Suhash) claims cops snatched his phone and themselves made a called 100 to complain against the youngsters,” said the report.

He has also challenged the police to track his mobile location which he says would be found at the police station at the time when the complaint was made to the dial 100 team, added the report.

Burhanpur Superintendent of Police, however, expressed unawareness over the latest development and said probe will be launched if a formal complaint is filed.
