Country’s first healthy and hygienic food street ‘Prasadam’ was inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh at Shri Mahakal Lok in Ujjain

Country’s first healthy-hygienic food street ‘Prasadam’ in Mahakal Lok: Food will be prepared with RO water; Samosa-kachori and pizza-burger, Maggi will not be available.

The country’s first healthy and hygienic food street ‘Prasadam’ was inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Sunday at Shri Mahakal Lok in Ujjain. This food street has been prepared at a cost of Rs 1 crore 75 lakh. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya was also present on the inauguration occasion.

After this, these streets will be opened at 100 places across the country. There will be a complete ban on plastic along with samosa-kachori and junk food. It will be fully started in the first week of February.

There are a total of 17 shops of 150 to 200 square feet in this food street on the roof of the parking near Neelkanth gate of Shri Mahakal Lok. Tender for all these shops is yet to be tendered. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ashish Pathak said that all the rules of Eat Right Food will be kept in mind.

There will be different food stalls in Prasadam, where the devotees coming to visit Lord Mahakaleshwar can enjoy the local cuisine of Ujjain.

The Chief Minister and Union Minister released the SOP brochure (rule book) of the country’s first healthy and hygienic food street prasadam. Its website was also launched.

Ujjain Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh said that food will be cooked here with RO (reverse osmosis) water. This water will also be used for drinking. The vendors cooking will have to wear gloves, a cap and apron on their heads. Workers and vendors will be allowed to work only after medical test. It will be the responsibility of the shopkeepers to dispose of the garbage.

Along with the inauguration of ‘Prasadam’, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Mandaviya also performed bhumi pujan and inauguration of 187 works worth Rs 218.76 crore.

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) manager Kumar Vikas said that dishes made from coarse grains will be promoted in ‘Prasadam’. Food handling training will be given to vendors by FSSAI.

The Food Safety on Wheels vehicle will come to Prasadam once a week to inspect the food prepared here and also provide training on methods of cooking, serving and waste management. In this, the parameters set by the Government of India will be considered. There will also be training for workers from time to time. This team will also conduct surprise inspection. If any person wishes, he can call and get the test

Collector Singh told that the Prasadam is ready. To make street food hygienic, it will be run for two days as a model. Shop allotment will take place after two days. People will get high quality food. Among coarse grain products, one can find dishes made from Rajgira, Sanwa, Kuttu, Ragi, Kangni, Kodo, Sama, Bajra, Gram, Jowar.
