1100 couples tie nuptial knots under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana at Damoh
Bhopal: Marriages of 1100 couples were solemnised under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana at Damoh on Akshaya Tritiya. At the mass marriage function at tahsil ground, Water Resources Minister Shri Jayant Kumar Malaiya along with his wife performed mass Kanyadan. Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Dr. Ram Krishna Kusmaria, MP Shri Shivraj Singh Lodhi, Jabera MLA Shri Dashrath Singh Lodhi and Hata MLA Smt. Umadevi Khatik also wished the newly.
On the occasion, Minister Shri Malaiya discharged his responsibilities as a host in an articulate manner. Dr. Smt. Sudha Malaiya sat with women’s party present on the occasion and sang wedding songs in Bundeli dialect.
At the function, marriages of 17 disabled couples were also solemnised. These included the couples with both spouses being disabled or one of them. From Government’s side Rs. 25 thousand each was given to 12 couples whose one spouse was disabled and Rs. 50 thousand to 5 couples with both spouses being disabled.
Nikahs of 34 Muslim girls were also solemnised at the function. Shahr Qazi solemnised all the Nikahs. Vedic hymns chanted by pandits and Quranic verses recited by Qazi saheb reverberated at the function giving message of communal harmony.
