100 percent subsidy for Special backward Tribes in MP
Bhopal. The Madhya Pradesh Government gave a 100 percent subsidy on last year for families of Special backward Tribes to build their own house. To built 950 houses, Government spent 4.25 crore on this work.
Under Indira Awas Yojna, houses costing Rs. 16 crore has been made available to 1600 families in 64 colonies. Under the scheme, Rs. 25 lakh is provided to 25 families for construction of houses, roads, drains and arrangements for drinking water, power and community hall. Rs. 3 crore have also been spent on the repair of 2925 houses built earlier for these tribes. Three Special Backward Tribes including Bharia, Baiga and Saharia live in the state. The State Government has also constituted 11 Special Backward Tribes Development Agencies. These agencies have identified 5.5 lakh population of these tribes in 2,314 villages. The Tribal Welfare Department is making constant efforts for the development of these tribes.
