Violence Mars TRS Bandh in AP
Violence marred the first day of a 48-hour bandh, called to press for statehood for Telangana. Normal life remained crippled in Hyderabad and Telangana region even as the Andhra Pradesh government decided to withdraw cases filed against Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K Chandrasekhar Rao during the last one week.
During the bandh pro-Telangana activists indulged in arson, disrupted road and rail traffic and damaged public and government properties including bank ATMs in Hyderabad and Telangana region.
Streets in Hyderabad and Secunderabad wore a deserted look as business establishments, hotels and petrol pumps remained shut and private vehicles kept off the streets.
