M.P Will Become No. 1 State of Country: Union Minister Shri Gadkari

Bhopal. A major gift was presented to the state at Naugaon of district Chhatarpur today. Foundation stone of 220.440 kilometer long modern highways worth Rs. 1386.03 crore was laid in the presence of the Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari and the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today. The guests performed bhoomi poojan and laid foundation of 3 important National Highways’ projects.

Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari said that Madhya Pradesh will become No. 1 state of the country in the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. State is progressing constantly. Road construction will facilitate employment and industries. He further mentioned that it is a matter of pride for Madhya Pradesh that agriculture growth rate is maximum in the country since last four years. Moreover Madhya Pradesh is developing fast in the fields of roads, electricity, water, industry and other sectors. Also special attention has been paid towards quality in roads construction. Shri Gadkari announced an amount of Rs. 2 lakh crore in the next two years for roads construction in the state. He informed that several rivers of the country are being transformed into water ways including Narmada River. He mentioned that National Highways at a cost of Rs. One lakh crore will be constructed in the state.

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Bundelkhand will not be left behind in development. History has been created in Madhya Pradesh in roads sector. Progress is being made rapidly in irrigation sector. As a result Madhya Pradesh will leave behind Punjab and Haryana in agriculture sector. Shri Chouhan further said that irrigation projects have been made to provide irrigation facilities on 4 lakh 50 thousand hectare land in Bundelkhand. He said that Bundelkhand will be made as the best region of the state. Informing about the steps taken by the state government in the education field, Shri Chouhan said that arrangements are being made to bear fee of the students getting admissions in higher education courses. Law will be enacted by the state government to provide houses to the poor. No poor of the state will become houseless till 2022. Shri Chouhan urged the Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari for construction of 2021 kilometer long national highways of the state. Shri Gadkari gave his consent towards this in the programme itself.

The projects for which foundation stones were laid including construction of four lane road from block Chhatipahadi (Madhya Pradesh/Uttar Pradesh Border) to Khajuraho of National Highway No. 75/76. A total of 85.400 kilometer long road will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 920.46 crore. Moreover 2 lane works from Kilometer 131 to 189/4 will be carried out on National Highway No. 86 from Angor –Chhatarpur Madhya Pradesh/Uttar Pradesh border. Works worth Rs. 178.23 crore on this 44.700 kilometer long National Highway will be carried out. Furthermore construction work of 2 lane road under expansion of National Highway No. 86 from kilometer 81 to kilometer 175 of Sanchi-Sagar road will be carried out. An amount of Rs. 287.34 crore will be spent on construction works on this 90.340 long road.

Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development Shri Gopal Bhargava, Minister for Public Health Engineering Sushri Kusum Mehdele, Minister for Public Works Shri Rampal Singh, Minister of State for Backward Class and Minority Welfare (Independent Charge) Smt. Lalita Yadav, MP Shri Nagendra Singh, MLAs Shri Manvendra Singh, Engineer Shri Pradeep Lariya, Shri Anil Jain, Shri Pushpendra Nath Pathak, Shri R.D. Prajapati, Chairman Bundelkhand Development Authority Dr. Ramkrishna Kusmariya, Former Minister of State Shri Harishankar Khatik, public representatives and citizens were present in the programme.
