IAS Officer Taken into Custody for Taking Bribe

A top Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer has been taken into custody for corruption after the CBI conducted raid on his house, said media reports.

O Ravi, a 1983 batch IAS officer, is currently posted as Joint Secretary Disaster Management and Policy in Home Ministry.

He is accused of taking Rs 50 lakh in bribe from Alok Khimani, a distiller from Daman and Diu, reports said.

Khimani faced huge tax evasion charges slapped on him by the present administrator posted by the Centre in the Union Territory and wanted him removed, said reports quoting unnamed sources.

Besides, the CBI conducted raids at residence of another Home Ministry official, a Director-level Indian Railway Services officer for allegedly taking Rs 10 lakhs in bribe for awarding contracts, reports said.

Details in the case are awaited.
