SC Deposes Plea on Prabhakaran’s Mother
The Supreme Court has disposed a plea that sought instruction to the Centre to fly the ailing mother of slain LTTE chief Prabhakaran to Chennai for treatment, said media reports.
Chennai-based advocate R Kuruppan, the petitioner, also pleaded for directive to the central government to make sure that a foreigner coming to the country with a valid Indian visa is not forcibly deported, reports said.
The petition challenged the central government’s decision to deport Parvathi Ammal, Prabhakaran’s mother, when she flew into Chennai airport from Malaysia, said reports.
He said that despite having a valid visa issued by the Indian high commissioner in Kuala Lumpur, she was sent back to Malaysia, said reports.
