Jayalalitha Threatens to Sue Karunanidhi

After being cleared by an inquiry commission which investigated land-grabbing charges against her, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha has threatened to sue chief minister M Karunanidhi for defamation for his ‘false propaganda’ on the issue, said media reports.

In a statement, Jayalalitha said that Karunanidhi had accused her of seizing land given to Dalits but the justice KP Sivasubramaniam commission constituted by the state DMK government found that she was in no way connected with the controversial property at Siruthavur village in Kancheepuram district, reports said.

“Knowing fully well that I have no connection with the disputed property, Karunanidhi was indulging in false and malicious propaganda against me and said in a function organised by the Viduthlai Chiruthaigal Katchi last month that a former chief minister had driven away Dalits from their land at Siruthavur village.

“The commission had submitted its report to the government even before that function and Karunanidhi was well aware of the findings,” she was quoted as saying.
