Rahul Appeals to Kashmiris to Vote for NC

In a joint election rally with Omar Abdullah in Jammu and Kashmir, just as their fathers have once had, Rahul Gandhi appealed to the people to vote Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance to power in the valley.

While appealing to the voters, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said to people that a vote for NC would mean a vote for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and not to the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate LK Advani.

Addressing an election rally in support of NC candidate Mehboob Beg, he said that voting for NC or PDP does not mean a vote for NC or PDP but for PM Manmohan Singh. The Gandhi scion, wearing Kashmiri cap, also accused NDA of playing divisive politics besides that of hatred.

Gandhi said that he wanted to bring in a politics of development, love and friendship. “The country can move forward only with people from all religions, region and caste moving together,” he added.     

Throwing light on development works carried out during the rein of UPA in the state, which included construction of railway line and power projects, he said that he was here for his friend and state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and together they would try and make the state the best developed one.     

Striking a chord with the youth of South Kashmir, he said, “I have not come here as a politician. I am a youth and I want to be friend of the Kashmiri youth.”
