Probe in Pune Blast by ATS Has Gone Wrong: Maharashtra DGP

Maharashtra top cop has said that the probe by the state Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) into German Bakery blast has gone wrong, said media reports.

“The ATS has to study the case scientifically and collect evidence to identify the group behind the attack,” DGP D Sivanandan was quoted as saying while talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function.

He said that he knew four months had passed since the probe began but emphasized that the investigating agency should not be put under pressure of time frame, reports said.

“The first mistake was the blast and second wrong investigation. What we need is right investigation at right time,” the police chief was quoted as saying.

A Sessions court in Mumbai on Tuesday granted bail to Abdul Samad, arrested by the ATS in an arms case and for suspected involvement in the Pune terror attack.
