Eight Naxals Killed in Encounter in West Midnapore

In an encounter with security forces, nearly eight Naxals, including three women, were killed at Saloboni village in West Bengal’s Midnapore district, said media reports.

The dead bodies of the rebels have been recovered, reports said.

Acting an intelligence input, a joint team of CRPF, the special anti-naxal force (SAF) and state police went into encounter with the Maoists last night, said reports.

According to a senior CRPF official, the security forces also recovered one AK-47, a SLR, one pistol and five single barrel guns in the operation, reports said.

“Dead bodies of the eight Naxals along with three women have been recovered and the encounter may prolong,” the officer was quoted as saying.

The encounter happened in Dhuli forest area under the Saloboni police station of the district, said reports.

Some explosives have also been recovered, said reports.

The officer said that the additional reinforcements from the state police and CRPF have been asked for, said reports.
