Office of CJI under Purview of RTI Act: Delhi HC

Upholding the Chief Information Commissioner’s order, the Delhi High Court has stated that the office of the Chief Justice of India (CJI) is a public authority and is under the purview of the Right to Information Act.

Justice S Ravindra Bhatt ruled that a person can ask for information regarding announcement of assets by Supreme Court judges; this comes under the Act.

Needless to add, the petition triggered intense debate on the subject throughout the country, whether SC judges will disclose asset or not.
