Not Apology, Wants School to Pay for the Crime: Rouvanjit’s Father

After principal of La Martiniere School tendered an apology for Rouvanjit’s death, his father Ajay Rawla has said that he doesn’t want an apology from the school authorities responsible for his son’s death but wants the school to pay for the crime and termination of the principal, said media reports.

“I have not received an apology. I think the principal should be sacked. They will have to pay for their crime,” Ajay Rawla was quoted as telling a TV news channel.

He said that he never received an apology from the principal for caning his 13-year-old son and re-iterated that he wanted justice for the death of his son, reports said.

Yesterday, principal of the school Chakravarthi had shown regret for caning the Class VIII student who later committed suicide.

Terming the punishment as a mistake, the principal said that he would never again can and that he had tendered an apology to the board of governors of the school for the corporal punishment awarded to the boy, said reports.

He also said that corporal punishment would never again be practised in the school, reports said.

“The board made it abundantly clear that corporal punishment was strictly prohibited. I apologised to them. It will not be practised any more,” Chakravarthi had said.
