Munde Deputy Leader of BJP in LS
Following elevation of Sushma Swaraja as Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, former Maharashtra Deputy chief minister Gopinath Munde has been appointed as Deputy Leader of the BJP in Lok Sabha.
Munde, 60, has been entrusted with the responsible post two days after another Maharashtra leader Nitin Gadkari, junior to him state politics, was appointed BJP’s president.
A prominent OBC leader, Munde has been elected from his home constituency, Beed, in Marathwada region of Maharashtra.
Munde, who is brother-in-law of late Pramod Mahajan, was Deputy Chief Minister in the Shiv Sena-BJP government in 1995 to 1999.
Ananth Kumar’s name was also doing the rounds along with that of Munde for the key post.
