Maya Moves SC on Scrapping of NSA against Varun

Following scrapping of National Security Act (NSA) against BJP candidate Varun Gandhi, the Uttar Pradesh government moved the Supreme Court challenging the decision of a state advisory board under the Allahabad High Court.

In its petition, the state government argued that the state advisory board scrapped invocation of NSA against Gandhi ignoring “cogent evidence” of the state government for invoking the NSA against him.

Uttar Pradesh’ advocate-on-record GV Rao has confirmed the filing of the petition in the apex court’s registry.

It should be mentioned that the Uttar Pradesh advisory board had scrapped the state government’s decision to invoke the NSA against Varun Gandhi, saying that the step was too harsh.
