Maoists Behead Abducted Cop; More Killings if Ghandy Not Released

Suspected Maoists have killed Jharkhand police inspector Francis Induwar, kidnapped by them on September 30 demanding the release of their three arrested leaders including Kobad Ghandy, said police on Tuesday.

Jharkhand Deputy Inspector General R K Malik confirmed the news of Induwar’s killing and said that his body was found on the Jamshedpur-Ranchi highway around 9 am.

According to Malik, Induwar’s dead body, headless indicating he was beheaded, was found with a note that warned that more of such treatment could be expected if their demands were not fulfilled.

Malik confirmed that the Maoists had been demanding the release of two of their prominent leaders Kobad Ghandy and Chatrodhar Mahato, who have been arrested by law enforcement authorities in Delhi and West Bengal respectively.

Maoists claimed full responsibility for the killing of Induwar.

Induwar’s execution was carried out after the government refused to release Ghandy.
