Judge Recuses Himself from Hearing Gen Prakash’s Plea in Sukna Land Scam Case

A Supreme Court judge has recused himself from hearing a plea moved by retired Lt General Avadesh Prakash, facing court-martial for his alleged role in Sukna land scam case, reported PTI.

Justice Dalveer Bhandari, who heads the bench, recused himself instantly as the case came up for hearing, report said.

Justice Bhandari, who gave no reason for recusing himself, said that the matter should be listed before another bench and then deferred petition till Thursday, said report.

Lt Gen Prakash was indicted by an Army Court of Inquiry for his alleged role in issuing of No objection Certificate to a private realtor Dilip Agarwal for building an educational institute on a 71 acre land adjacent to the Sukna military station in West Bengal.

Lt Gen Prakash, along with Lt Gen PK Rath, was facing a court martial in the case.
