Manhunt for Mastermind of Dantewada Attack, Patnaik Receives Threat Mail

Security forces have launched a massive manhunt for the alleged mastermind of the deadliest Maoist attack on CRPF team in Dantedwada on Tuesday as Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik receives a mail from suspected Maoists threatening to carry out more Dandewada type attacks, said media reports.

Security forces and intelligence agencies claim that Tuesday’s attack was mansterminded by Maoist leader Ganesh VK, who had publicly pledged to take on the Government some time ago, reports said.

“We will try to form a parallel government from the 500 to 3000 people ready to form the gram sabha,” Ganesh had reportedly said in 2006.

Reports said that Ganesh, who is a CPI (Maoist) Politburo member, is originally from Andhra Pradesh but operates in Chhattisgarh.

He is not only the area commander of the rebels in the Dantewada region but also trains and commands the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), reports said.

Reports said that the ambush against the CRPF was not reportedly planned in advance but on the spot.

They masterminded the ambush after the CRPF personnel went into the area and were involved in area domination, reports said.

After noticing the CRPF team, which stayed in the region for four days, rebels made them their target and chalked out the plan, said reports.

Maoists called reinforcement from other areas and nearly 300-400 rebels carried out the attack encircling the entire CRPF team, said reports.

In the meanwhile, Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik received an e-mail from suspected Maoists, threatening to carry out Chhattisgarh-like attacks in the state, said reports.

The mail, which was received on Wednesday night, is the second such mail from the rebels to the CM in last two weeks.

According to reports, it threatened to blow up CM’s residence apart from other important establishments in the state, after which security was stepped up.

The earlier mail had threatened to avenge the wounds, allegedly inflicted upon, top Maoist leaders Kishenji and Bikram.
