Indore: Dismissing Congress’ charge that no member of Lower House of Parliament was allowed to speak about Prime Minister Narendra Modi during discussions, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said it was inappropriate to drag PM’s name on the issues he was not associated with.
“Members should talk on the basis of subject and references in Parliament. As far as Prime Minister is concerned, during discussions, his name can be taken even ten times provided there is proper context to it,” Mahajan said.She was interacting with media after participating in a meeting in connection with rail projects in the region.Jairam Ramesh had reportedly alleged that the Lok Sabha Speaker was biased and “did not allow anyone to speak about Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the House.”Mahajan further said, “I tell the Lok Sabha members that wherever it is necessary they can to speak about Prime Minister and even criticise him. But it is unfair to take PM’s name without any context on the issues that he was not at all linked to.”
