38 nominations for Mayors, 972 for Chairpersons and 4103 for corporators withdrawn

Bhopal: Process was undertaken for withdrawal of nominations for urban body elections-2014 today. According to latest information, 38 nominations for the post of Mayor, 972 for Chairperson and 4103 for the post of corporator were withdrawn. With this, 88 candidates for the post of Mayor, 1778 for Chairperson and 21079 candidates for the post of corporator have remained in the election fray.

In Katni Municipal Corporation Shri Sanjay Nigam and Shri Ghanshyam Chawla of Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri Sunil Mishra of Indian National Congress and independent candidate Shri Santosh Paroha withdrew their nominations for the post of Mayor. Shri Satish Chandra Agrawal of BJP and Shri Narayan Das withdrew their nominations in Khandwa, independent candidate Smt. Neelam Sharma and Shri Balwant Singh and Shri Brajesh Shriwas of BJP in Gwalior, Shri Anil Singh of BJP and Shri Dilip in Dewas, Shri Obaidullah, Shri Shakib Saheb and Shri Mohammad Aijaz of Indian National Congress and independent candidate Shri Shaikh Hanif in Burhanpur, Smt. Krishna Chouhan and Smt. Anita Katariya of BJP in Ratlam, Smt. Rama Dube of Indian National Congress and Smt. Babita Saket of Bahujan Samaj Party in Rewa, Smt. Ratna Sudhir Singh Tomar, Smt. Neetu Manish Tiwari and Smt. Sarita Agrawal of Indian National Congress and independent candidate Smt. Shahnaz Begum in Satna, Shri Keshav Prasad, Shri Mahesh Kumar Sahu, Shri Raj Bahadur Singh, Shri Govind Jadiya, Shri Nutan Dinesh alias Lachchhu Bhai, Shri Ram Kumar Sahu, Shri Jagannath Guraiya and Shri Vinod Kumar of BJP and independent candidate Dr. Ajay Soni in Sagar and Smt. Shyamwati Singh of Indian National Congress withdrew nomination for the post of Mayor in Singrauli Municipal Corporation. Several of these candidates had filed two sets of nominations.

Details are available on State Election Commission’s website www.mplocalelection.gov.in. Polling for first phase will be held on November 28 and second phase on December 4. Counting for the first phase will be held on December 2 and second phase on December 6.
