Cabinet clears Panchayat elections for 3 tier Panchayat structure in the state: Omar
JAMMU: On Wednesday The Jammu and Kashmir government cleared the way for holding three-tier panchayat polls in the state after a long period after so many years. They are likely to be held from March, sources in the cabinet said.
In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah the decision was taken here. Omar later relayed the news through Twitter, he said, “Cabinet clears Panchayat elections for 3 tier Panchayat structure in the state.”
At the village, sarpanch and district level were likely to be held from March, sources in the cabinet said the three-tier elections.
