NEW DELHI: On Monday, Vice President Hamid Ansari will give away the fifth Ramnath Goenka Awards for Excellence in Journalism to 32 of India’s best journalists. The awards, which will be presented in 17 categories, will recognise outstanding work done in 2009. The awards ceremony will be held at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi.

From Naxalism to economic slowdown, from dying rivers to devastating floods, the stories that will be awarded highlight a range of issues that address contemporary India and its myriad challenges.
