Health and education State Government’s top priorities: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that health and education are the top priorities of the State Government. Village will be made focal point of health services in the state. He urged to perform better than national average under various health indices. The Chief Minister was addressing a workshop on maternal and infant health here today. Health Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, Minister of State for Health Shri Mahendra Hardia, Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram, Additional Secretary National Rural Health Mission Sushri Anuradha Gupta and DFID Head Shri Sam Shaw were specially present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that it is his top priority to improve living standard of the poor. This will also ensure improvement in their heath and education status. For improving health scenario, we will have to pay attention to upliftment of financial status, change in people’s outlook, supply of clean water and stabilization of population. Society and non-government organisations will also have to be connected with this task. Better work has been done in the state in road, power, irrigation, agriculture and infrastructure sectors. Now, priority is being attached to health and education. A number of schemes have been chalked for this. Mukhyamantri Pey-Jal Yojana has been launched to ensure supply of clean water in villages. Beti Bachao Abhiyan has brought about positive changes in people’s mindset.
Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram said that “Sampoorn Swasthya Sab Ke Liye” programme has been launched in the state. Now, attention is being paid to improve health services. National Rural Health Mission Director Sushri Anuradha Gupta said that the institution was launched in year 2005. Quality is an important factor in health services. This affects a number of health indices. Under National Rural Health Mission, special attention is being paid to reducing maternal and infant mortality rates. Principal Secretary Health Shri Praveer Kumar threw light on the workshop’s outlines. He informed that a one-year action plan has been chalked out to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.
At the function, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched website of Integrated Health Management System and released RMNCH’s guideline booklet. Vice-Chairman of National Rural Health Mission Dr. Ajay Kheda, Commissioner Health Shri Pankaj Agrawal, collectors of various districts and officers of Health Department were also present on the occasion. State Director of National Rural Health Mission Sushri M. Geeta proposed a vote of thanks.
