CM seeks action plan for agriculture use of cow urine
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday asked the Chief Secretary to prepare an action plan for scientific and systematic use of cow urine in the agriculture sector.
An official communication said Baghel told the top official ready the plan within two weeks after discussing with the agricultural scientists of Kamdhenu University and farmers who use cow urine instead of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
“There is a gradual decrease in soil fertility with the continuous use of chemical fertilizers and toxic pesticides. Besides, excessive use of chemicals is adversely affecting the health of the general public,” said the Chief Minister.
“The use of vermicompost and super compost manufactured in Gauthans has shown positive results. Chhattisgarh is heading towards organic and regenerative farming.”
Cow urine has a good fertilizer value and can be used as an alternative to toxic chemicals in agriculture, he said. There are examples of successful use of cow urine in some places in the state itself.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need to collect researches conducted in the country on this topic before promoting the use of cow urine on a large scale.
