CBI Demands Two-year Term for Rathore in Ruchika Case

The CBI has asked for a two-year term for former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore in Ruchika molestation case, said media reports.

The agency also wounded up its arguments today on presentation of evidence before a local court in Chandigarh which is hearing three petitions regarding Rathore’s conviction, reports said.

After completion of arguments on presentation of evidence, Additional District Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh adjourned the hearing on the three pleas till Monday, said reports.

“The CBI had concluded reading out of its evidence,” Ruchika’s family lawyer Pankaj Bhardwaj was quoted as saying while talking to reporters outside the court.

He said that the CBI had sought maximum punishment of two years for Rathore, reports said.

On Thursday, Rathore’s counsel had completed their arguments.

Last December, Rathore was awarded six-month imprisonment by a CBI court for molesting Ruchika Girhotra and then he had challenged his conviction before Sessions court.

At the same time, the CBI and relatives and friends of tennis player Ruchika also moved pleas seeking enhancement of sentence for Rathore.

The hearing on the three petitions is being held on a day-to-day basis in camera.
