Shaurya Dals to be constituted in all districts of MP: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Shaurya Dals will be constituted in all districts of Madhya Pradesh. Presently, Shaurya Dals exist in 20 districts. He said that Mahila Panchayat will be held at Bhopal in ensuing April. The Chief Minister was addressing International Women’s Day function here today.

The Chief Minister said that Rs. 51 thousand each under Lado Abhiyan will be given to girls who have been felicitated today for preventing their child marriage. Society and government should work in tandem to curb discrimination against girls. An atmosphere should be created where birth of a girl child is celebrated. This Abhiyan is working towards changing mindsets in Madhya Pradesh. Abhiyan has been lauded at both national and international levels. Women’s empowerment should be in mission mode. There should be stricter legal provisions to punish gender crimes. He called for a debate in the country on death sentence to rapist.

Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Maya Singh said that women can be empowered by making them self-reliant. A number of schemes have been implemented for women’s empowerment in the state. Benefit of Ladli Laxmi Yojana has been extended to 19 lakh girls in the state so far. Under Lado Abhiyan, 51 thousand child marriages have been prevented. CM’s Community Leadership Development Programme is being launched. Integrated efforts need to be done for women’s security.

At the function, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan gave away Rani Avanti Bai Gallantry Award for year 2014 to Ku. Shyamu Bai of village Dodi in Agar district, Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia Social Service Award to Smt. Sukanya Bai of village Kundarpura in Chhatarpur district, Mukhyamantri Nari Samman Puraskar to Smt. Pushpa Mehta and Smt. Uma Yadav of Bhopal. He also felicitated girls preventing their child marriages under Lado Abhiyan, outstanding ASHA workers and members of best Shaurya Dals. A souvenir focusing on Jawahar Bal Bhavan was also released at the function. Beneficiaries of Shaurya Dals, CM’s Women’s Empowerment Programme, Lado Abhiyan and Tejaswini programme shared their experiences. Children of Jawahar Bal Bhavan presented a dance drama. A film focusing on women’s empowerment was also screened. MP Shri Alok Sanjar, MLA Shri Vishwas Sarang and DGP Shri Surendra Sinh were also present on the occasion. Principal Secretary Women and Child Development Shri J.N. Kansotiya informed about departmental activities. Commissioner Women’s Empowerment Smt. Kalpana Shrivastava through light on programme’s outlines.
