BJP Creates History, Wins Bangalore City Polls First Time in 54 Years
Creating history, the BJP has won the civic elections in Bangalore for the first time in 54 years, said media reports.
In 198-seats Greater Bangalore City Corporation, the BJP won 103 seats with Congress coming a distance second grabbing 60 seats and JDS merely 12, said reports.
Reports said that independent candidates won remaining of the seats.
Ending five decades of Congress dominance, it is for the first time that the BJP came to power in the city body.
The civic body polls took place on March 28. About 46 per cent of the city’s 6.6 million voters had turned out to cast their ballots to elect 198 representatives from over 1,300 candidates to run the Greater Bangalore City Corporation.
