Two Policemen Die in Suicide Bombing in Russia’s Ingushetia

At least two policemen have been killed in a suicide bomb attack in the Russian republic of Ingushetia, reported BBC.

Officials said that bombing took place in the town of Karabulak and soon after the first attack, a car bomb blew up in the same place, report said.

Police officials said that target of the bombings was an interior ministry building, said report.

According to a statement from investigators, the suicide attacked detonated explosives as a car full of police officers was entering the compound at 0820 local time (0420 GMT), report said.

“As a result of the blast, the suicide bomber died at the scene and three police officers were taken to hospital, where two of them died,” the statement was quoted as saying by AFP.

As investigators reached the spot of bombing less than a hour later, a remote-control car bomb was blown up, report said.

Officials said that no-one was hurt in the second explosion.

It may be mentioned that forty were killed in twin suicide bombings at Moscow Metro station last Monday, two days after which another North Caucasus republic, Dagestan, was targeted.

The Kremlin blamed Islamists from the North Caucasus for the earlier attacks.

Russian media reports have published images of a women they say carried out one of the attacks in Moscow, saying she was from Dagestan.

Russia became embroiled in a bitter conflict with Islamist separatists in the North Caucasus republic of Chechnya in the late 1990s.

The violence spilled over to Ingushetia and Dagestan and, although Moscow has since scaled down its military operation, a low-level insurgency has continued in the region.
