Bengal won the Vijay Hazare Trophy
NEW DELHI: Bengal has won the Vijay Hazare trophy after defeating heavyweight Mumbai. Laxmi Ratan Shukla played a brilliant knock and smashed a magnificent century to guide Bengal to an easy victory. It was an outstanding effort by the Shukla who never done justice to his talent.
Due to the Shukla’s effort Bengal reached the target with 23 balls to spare. He was adjudged Man of the match for his excellent all round performance.
Earlier in the day Mumbai won the toss and opted to bat first. Mumbai got good start when Jaffer blazed his way to a 41-ball-50 as they reached 76 for no loss in 10 overs.
But then Shukla scripted a turn around with a beautiful spell which reads 7-1-17-3. After that Suryakumar Yadav (50, 68 balls, 7×4) and Aditya Tare (35) played a good hand and take Mumbai to a respectable total of 248 in 49.2 overs.
