Nupur denies links with any match fixing

NEW DELHI: Actress Nupur Mehta has denied any match fixing link. She has no clue why her picture was used. “The picture that they have used was taken during my film, ‘Jo Bole So Nihal’,” she said

She threatened to sue the London daily. “I have been accused of something that I have not done. All I would say is I am not guilty of any such thing.”She said.

She said “I think it is a mere publicity stunt, they (the British paper) have picked my picture off the net, have thrust these allegations on me – of honeytrapping these cricketers – while the truth is that I have no links whatsoever with them.

If I do have these links with the cricketers as they are insinuating, why are they not using my pictures with these cricketers? Why do you have to take a movie poster of me off the net? Ok, I do party, and I have attended parties where there have been cricketers, and I have met them there, but that’s about it. They are not my friends, they are not my acquaintances, they’re just… celebrities.

And everybody has the right to meet them. But I don’t have any pictures clicked with them… I think this is a mere publicity stunt to exploit my name!”

“Somebody from London called me a few days ago, saying he was calling from the paper in question. He has approached me earlier too, by different names. I don’t know whether he wanted to be incognito or whether it was a stealth call. He was claiming to be a journalist, but I kept thinking it was merely a jest call. But he asked me some pointed questions like whether I attended some cricket matches in London, and whether I was there for the T20 World Cup – and I completely denied it all, because I thought it was somebody faking it.

This call came to me on Saturday evening, and he said that tomorrow in the paper, your name and your statement will be there, I thought it was somebody joking. And then I realised it has all come true.”
