ATS Probing Terror Plans of Hizbul Suspect

A day after arresting Hizbul Mujahideen suspect Bashir Ahmed Baba, Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) is trying to find out what kind of terror network he was planning to establish in the state, reported PTI citing officials.

They said that the ATS seized significant documents from Bashir alias Aijaz (32), which include a diary containing e-mail addresses, contact number of persons in Gujarat and their other places, said report.

“We are scrutinising the contact numbers and e-mail addresses found from Bashir and trying to trace it,” report quoted ATS sources as saying.

They are quizzing Bashir, a Kashmiri, after a local court in Anand remanded him to 14-day police custody, report said.

“This could give us clues to what was Bashir planning after coming to Ahmedabad and later meeting people in other districts of the state,” they said adding, “the documents could also lead us to some local aides of Bashir who were facilitating him in his mission.”

Bashir’s main job, according to ATS, was to identify vulnerable youth, brain wash them and sent them to Pakistan for terror training, report said.

Bashir is also an expert in explosives and used to make bombs using tin cans of Pepsi, they said.
