Delhi BJP seeks four massive rallies with PM Modi’s presence

Delhi BJP unit has requested its Central leadership to seek permission for as many as four massive rallies by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to boost the party’s Lok Sabha campaign in the Capital.

Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said five locations had been shortlisted as venues for the proposed rallies for which permission has been sought from the Central leadership.

“We have requested four public rallies where Mr. Modi will mark his presence and are confident of getting the go-ahead for at least two of the four which have been proposed,” said a party leader.

According to the leader, Sant Nirankari Ground in Burari, Shastri Park, Dwarka and Mehrauli were among the locations for the proposed rallies. The party said it viewed these as having “much potential” to bring together citizens from overlapping parliamentary constituencies criss-crossing the city.

Candidates’ list
Meanwhile, the party’s list of candidates to be fielded at the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi was expected to be released either by the end of the week or latest during the first week of April.

One of the reasons for the delay according to party sources was the continuing suspense surrounding the announcement of a possible alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress. However, this did not mean that the party was not currently engaged in the process of shortlisting it own candidates.

“We have already started campaigning by holding rallies featuring prominent leaders. The party has already said that its campaign is based on reflecting the positivity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s achievements; in Delhi, we will focus on exposing the failures of the AAP government and how it has deprived the people of Delhi the benefits of Modi government’s schemes like Ayushman Bharat,” the leader added.
